LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1983-88 LINCOLN TOWN CAR
ISSUE: Windnoise on 1983-88 Lincoln Town Cars may be caused by AIR LEAKAGE in or out of the vehicle, or AIR TURBULENCE, over or around the vehicle exterior. Windnoise caused by air leakage is a serviceable condition and should be corrected before attempting to service windnoise caused by air turbulence. Some windnoise conditions caused by air turbulence may be due to mislocated exterior components (e.g., door surrounding moulding or shed lip seal). These types of windnoises are serviceable. The exterior design of the vehicle may make it difficult for dealers to completely eliminate windnoise caused by air turbulence.
ACTION: If service is required, reseal the vehicle using the following diagnostic service procedure.
NOTE: Windnoise conditions are often misleading. The area where the noise appears is not always the location where the windnoise originates. Therefore, road test vehicle with the customer to-identify windnoise concern.
