Mark VI 2 Door Carriage Roof Backlite - Replacement
FIGURE 6:
1. Remove 5/16" nut ((1) each side) retaining side belt moulding. Remove moulding, rear belt by unsnapping from (7) clips, side moulding (3) clips - remove moulding. (Figure 6).

2. Remove end caps ((1) each side (1) Phillips head screw which secures bonnet assembly (cap) to body) (Figure 7).
3. Remove right and left drip rail mouldings (1) screw each at lower "IA" post.

4. Remove bow feature strip end caps. ((1) screw each). (Figure 7).

5. Unfasten retainer clips bonnet assembly to vehicle at roof side rails. Use hook tool or needle-nose pliers. (Figure 6).
6. Pull cover material loose from top of "C" pillar down and across belt moulding area. Loosen cover material across tulip panel area for access to rivets.
7. Using 1/8" drill bit, drill out rivets from bottom of "C" pillar around periphery to other side of vehicle.
8. Using two (2) people, lift bonnet assembly from vehicle roof approximately 6 inches and prop, for access to backlite.
CAUTION: Bonnet assembly is secured to vehicle top with adhesive and deadener - excessive pressure when lifting bonnet assembly may fracture fiberglass cap.
9. Remove backlite interior garnish moulding.
10. Disconnect heated backlite leads (1) each side.
11. Replace the backlite glass as outlined in the Car Shop Manual in Section 43-11 - Glass - Stationary
- Butyl Type Seal.
12. Connect heated backlite leads (1) each side.
13. Install backlite interior garnish moulding.
14. Prime all drilled holes with zinc rich primer.
15. Remove prop from bonnet assembly, lower top to vehicle, align to body and install 1/8" x .328 pop rivets to retain around periphery of bonnet assembly.
16. Using Ford adhesive (D9AZ-19C525-A) or equivalent, secure previously loosened top material
- tuck material at "C" pillars,

17. Refasten retention clips upward to secure cap to roof side rails (3) each side. (Figure 6).
18. Install right and left drip rail mouldings. (1) screw each side at lower "A" pillar.
FIGURE 7:
19. Install bow feature strip end caps. (1) screw each. (Figure 7).
20. Install right, left and rear belt mouldings, (1) nut each side. (Replace all defective barrel nuts and apply sealer to all attachments).
