LINCOLN-MERCURY 1983 LINCOLN TOWN CAR

On 1983 Lincoln Town Car without underseat lights, the unused underseat lamp wiring and connector may be damaged by the seat movement. The unused wire and connector is wrapped around the seat support wire or is hanging down.

Either condition can cause shorted wires, blowing the courtesy lamp fuse. Therefore, if the courtesy lamps are inoperative, shorted wires underneath either/or both front seats may be the cause. This can be corrected by making any necessary services to the damaged wiring, then reroute and attach the wiring as shown in Figure 2.
