Spark knock and hesitation on acceleration may be due to crossfire caused by incorrect distributor rotor alignment. Reindex distributor to service, Set the rotor alignment to 5~ ATDC using the rotor alignment procedure. If alignment is not possible, referring to Section 23-01 (Ignition System) of the 1984 Car Shop Manual, Volume D, remove the distributor and reinstall it one (1) tooth clockwise from the original position.
