NOISE - LEFT HAND ENGINE MOUNT CONTACTS MOUNT BRACKET - 2.4L DIESEL TURBO ENGINE

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1984 MARK VII/CONTINENTAL

This article outlines a procedure to service a noise condition caused by the left hand mount contacting the left hand engine mount bracket.

1. Raise vehicle on hoist.

2. Refer to the 1984 Car Shop Manual D1 (Supplement) 2.4L Diesel Turbo Engine ZF Transmission Section 22-07 for removal and installation procedures for engine mount removal.

3. Once the left hand engine mount is removed, trim the front edge of the engine mount upper metal shaded area. (Figure 4). Use a die grinder or comparable tool for removing metal required.

NOTE: Do not damage the rubber insulator.

4. Reinstall per 1984 Car Shop Manual (refer to Step 2).
