BONNET ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND INSTALL
1. Remove the (5) screws retaining the "C" Pillar roof side exterior moulding assembly at the rear door openings. (Figure 2). Remove the mouldings by prying the top section loose from the retainer clips (3) each side.
2. Remove the right and left rear top band mouldings by carefully prying the mouldings loose from the clips. (4) each side.
3. Remove the right, left and rear belt mouldings by prying the studs out of the plastic retainers.
4. Remove the "Grand Marquis" emblem from right and left roof sides by carefully prying the emblem studs loose from the plastic retainers.
5. Loosen the silicone seal around the back glass opening using a putty knife with rounded edges or other suitable tool that will not scratch the glass.
6. Lift the vinyl and padding starting behind the rear top band moulding and continuing around the periphery to the same location on the other side of vehicle - allowing access to pop rivets that secure bonnet assembly to vehicle.
7. Drill out pop rivets from behind the rear top band moulding and continue around the periphery to the same location on the other side of vehicle. Lift the cap assembly and remove from vehicle (two men).
CAUTION: If excessive upward pressure is used when lifting bonnet assembly fiberglass cap may fracture. Lift slowly and separate adhesive deadener as required.
8. Reposition bonnet assembly to vehicle (two men), align holes and rivet to vehicle using 1/8" x .328 flat head rivets.
9. Using Ford vinyl roof adhesive (D9AZ-19C525-A) or equivalent. Secure the padding and vinyl around the periphery of bonnet assembly. Smooth out wrinkles, puckers and/or draws in vinyl material.
10. Apply a bead of silicone rubber sealer around the backlite opening using Ford D6AZ-19562-A (clear) D6AZ-19562-B (black) or equivalent.
11. Install the "Grand Marquis" emblem to the right and left roof sides.
12. Install the right, left and rear belt moulding. (Replace all damaged barrel, nuts and apply sealer to all attachments).
13. Install the top band mouldings to roof.
14. Install the roof side mouldings and the "C" pillar mouldings. (3) screws and (3) clips each side.
FIGURE 5:
BACKLITE - REPLACEMENT
1. Remove the backlite interior garnish moulding. (6) screws. (Figure 5).
2. Follow the steps under "Bonnet Assembly - Remove and Install" and prop approximately 6 inches above backlite rather than lifting it off the vehicle.
3. Remove (5) backlite to backlite extension retainers by drilling out the pop rivets with a 1/8" drill bit.
4. Disconnect the heated backlite lead wires. (2).
5. Replace the backlite glass as outlined in the Car Shop Manual in Section 43-11 - Glass, Stationary
- Butyl Type Seal.
6. Install (5) backlite to backlite extension retainers, using 1/8" x .328 pop rivets.
7. Connect heated backlite lead wires (2).
8. Remove prop from under bonnet assembly. Follow steps under "Bonnet Assembly". Remove and install to re-install bonnet assembly.

9. Reposition the backlite garnish moulding and install
(6) screws to retain. (Figure 5).
