Receiver Dryer: Service and Repair

REPLACE ACCUMULATOR/DRIER WHEN:
^ The accumulator/drier is perforated.
^ The system has been left open for one month or more.
^ If there is evidence of moisture in the system (i.e., internal corrosion of metal lines or if the refrigerant oil is thick and dark).

DO NOT REPLACE ACCUMULATOR/DRIER EVERY TIME IF:
^ There is a loss of refrigerant charge.
^ The system is contaminated (i.e., the compressor has seized) but in this case do replace the orifice tube.
^ A component such as a condenser, evaporator or compressor is changed.
^ A dent is found in the outer shell of the accumulator/drier.
