1. Perform steps 1 through 6 of ``Timing Belt, Replace'' procedure.
2. Remove intermediate shaft sprocket retaining bolt using tool T84P-6316-A or equivalent, Fig. 10. Ensure Allen head screws are aligned with holes in intermediate shaft sprocket, Fig. 10.
3. Remove vibration damper flange and sprocket retaining bolt. Using tool T67L-3600-A or equivalent, remove flange and sprocket, Fig. 11.
4. Remove the three oil pan to front cover attaching bolts, then loosen the remaining oil pan bolts.
5. Remove the six front cover to crankcase attaching bolts, then the front cover.
6. Clean front cover and crankcase mating surfaces.
7. Inspect and, if necessary, replace crankshaft and intermediate shaft oil seals.
8. Install new front cover gasket. Coat areas where front cover gasket meets oil pan gasket with a 1/4 inch bead of RTV sealant.
9. Position front cover onto crankcase and install attaching bolts. Torque 6 mm bolts to 7 ft. lbs. and 8 mm bolts to 16 ft. lbs.
10. Install the three front cover to oil pan attaching bolts. Torque all bolts to 7 ft. lbs.
11. Install vibration damper flange and sprocket onto crankshaft with shoulder facing toward front of vehicle.
12. Position intermediate shaft sprocket onto intermediate shaft, guiding locating pin into bore.
13. Install holding tool T84P-6316-A or equivalent, ensuring that Allen head screws in tool align with holes in intermediate shaft.
14. Install vibration damper flange and sprocket retaining bolt. Torque bolt to 282-311 ft. lbs.
15. Install intermediate shaft sprocket retaining bolt and torque to 44 ft. lbs.
16. Install and adjust timing belt as outlined previously.
17. Perform steps 1 through 6 of ``Timing Belt, Replace'' procedure in reverse sequence to complete installation.
