Crankshaft Main Bearing

Main bearings are available in standard size and undersizes of .010 and .020 inch. The different main bearing thicknesses are identified by a color code on the edge of the bearing shell. The correct bearings to use for each journal are determined during production and are shown by paint marks in the crankcase for bearings in the block; and by paint marks on the crankshaft counterweights, for bearings in the main caps.
