PAINT - CHIPPING - DOOR/ROOF

PANEL - MISSING DOOR OVERSLAM BUMPER

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1984-85 MARK VII

Paint chipping at the top rear corner of the door and/or roof Panel may be caused by a missing door overslam bumper. To correct this condition, replace the door overslam bumper with a redesigned bumper, part no. N804491-S.

1. Open door and inspect for missing door overslam bumper (see Figure 3).

2. If bumper is missing, check existing attaching hole for excess paint and/or sealer material and remove as required. If there is an existing bumper, remove and discard.

3. Install a new replacement bumper in door assembly (see Figure 3).
4. Repeat the previous steps for the opposite door.

NOTE: If paint chipping has occurred on door/roof panel, repair using appropriate paint mat- . erial.
