This article is being reprinted to add 1985 Mark VII and Continental applications. Vehicles which exhibit an audible "clicking" noise in the passenger compartment (most noticeable in cold temperatures) at "off idle" or on light acceleration, can be serviced by installing a new EGR solenoid.

1. Remove the EGR solenoid (E4ZE-9D474-FA) and install a new solenoid (E45Y-9D474-A).
