Door Division BAR, Weatherstrip Leaks
Figure 14:
Rear Door Division Bar
1. Remove glass run from top of division bar.
2. Seal notches inside and outside at top of division bar with black RTV (D6AZ-19562-BA). Fill entire length of notch, Figure 14.
3. Cut off triangular ears of division bar glass run, Figure 14.
4. Reinstall glass run.
5. Cycle window to make sure sealer does not come out.
Door Weatherstrip
1. Using a chalk spray, spray seal surfaces on door where door contacts weatherstrips. Let chalk spray dry.
2. Gently position door so that secondary latch is fastened. Apply pressure at beltline area until door is completely closed with the primary latch fastened.
3. Open door and inspect chalk line for:
a. Thin spots in chalk line which indicate weak sealing areas.
b. Less than 3 mm thickness of chalk line.
c. Chalk line that is not centered on weatherstrip bulb indicates a bad seal.
d. Breaks in chalk line indicates leaks.
4. If door weatherstrip appears okay after performing Step 3, proceed to Step 9. If one of the above conditions in Step 3 exists, proceed to Step 5.
5. If a break appears in the chalk line where the window frame and door meet, apply clear RTV (D6AZ-19562-AA) to make a smooth surface at this point.
NOTE: Allow enough time for RTV to cure before closing door.
Figure 15:
6. If front door sealing surface does not align in the middle of the weatherstrip bulb, install a new weatherstrip (E8AZ-5420708-A, right side or E8AZ-5420709-A, left side), Figure 15.
NOTE: Add black RTV sealer (D6AZ-19562- BA) to weatherstrip carrier before installation. Check for stuffer bags in "B" pillar, add as required.
7. Check to make sure weatherstrip seal has been corrected by doing Steps 1 through 3 again.
8. If weatherstrip seal has not been corrected, adjust the door.
9. If weatherstrip seal appears okay but windnoise is still present, seal weatherstrip carrier to body above beltline, Figure 15. Check for stuffer bags in roof rail and deadener patches in "B" pillar. If required, install stuffer bags and tape over all sheet metal holes in "B" pillar with waterproof tape (D6AZ-19627-A).
