IGNITION - OPEN CIRCUIT DUE TO CORROSION
FORD 1986 MARK VII, CONTINENTAL
Loss of the ignition circuit may be caused by corrosion of the #16 splice to the wire harness (14290). The corrosion area is located on the driver's side front fender apron, forward of the air suspension compressor, Figure 13.

To correct this, repair the #16 splice using the following service procedure:
1. Locate and repair the #16 splice, Figure 14. Refer to TSB 86-3-11 for butt-splice procedure.
NOTE: DO NOT USE ACID CORE SOLDER.
2. Wrap the repaired area with pressure-sensitive waterproof tape. Leave the repaired area out of the convoluted tubing to avoid any future corrosion.
