ISSUE: A no crank condition may be caused by a dead battery. The glove box lamp on some cars will not turn "OFF" when the glove box door is closed, resulting in a discharged battery.
ACTION: Install a new glove box lamp assembly that is stamped with a date code of 89-195 (July 14, 1989) or later. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

2. Remove the one (1) screw holding the lamp to the instrument panel.

3. Remove the wire connector from the lamp.

4. Install the wire connector on the new lamp.

5. Position the new lamp on the instrument panel and install the screw.

6. Adjust the lamp for proper glove box door closing and tighten screw.

7. Make sure the lamp is turned "OFF" when closing the glove box door.
