Instrument Cluster / Carrier: Service and Repair
1. Disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Position vehicle on a flat surface to prevent movement when gear shift selector is out of position.
4. Turn ignition switch to unlock shift lever, then move lever down from front of electronic instrument cluster (EIC).
5. Tilt steering column down, then remove right and left finish moulding by pulling upward to unsnap clips.
6. Disconnect electrical connectors.
7. Remove five Torx screws below cluster that retain applique.
8. Unsnap applique along top, then pull applique away from panel.
9. Disconnect switch assembly electrical connectors.
10. Remove three attaching screws from bottom of steering column shroud.
11. Lift up top section of shroud and remove clip on left side near steering wheel. Separate upper section of shroud from side section near ignition switch. Slip upper section off shift lever.
12. Remove four Torx screws retaining cluster to instrument panel.
13. Place a soft cloth on steering column to prevent scratching front surface of cluster when removed.
14. Tilt top of cluster slightly toward rear of vehicle, then disconnect two snaps beneath cluster retaining PRNDL assembly.
15. Unplug three connectors behind cluster. Connectors have locking tabs that must be pressed in to unplug connection.
16. Loosen two clips retaining PRNDL assembly to cluster, then position aside.
17. Push bottom of cluster into instrument panel, then tilt top of cluster toward rear of vehicle and remove cluster.
18. Reverse procedure to install. Rearm airbag as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
