System Outputs
After the ECA has determined (through inputs) the current operating condition of the engine, it will refer to operating tables in memory. Calculations will then determine the proper sequence of events in order to obtain good driveability, emissions and fuel economy. The ECA will accomplish this through the use of system outputs. These outputs are electrically controlled by the ECA.
The commands from the processor are performed as outputs.
Outputs can be divided in four categories:
1. Solenoids, both normally open and normally closed.
2. Electric motors.
3. Controller modules.
4. Other outputs that are information signals generated by the ECA.
