A/T - Delayed Forward Engage/Flare Up On Downshift

SUBJECT: AXOD

PROBLEM:
Delayed forward engagement and/or flare-up on downshift.

POSSIBLE CAUSE:
Friction material is off of low/intermediate band Many 1986 Ford AXOD transmissions are having this problem.

TO CHECK:




Remove pan and look for band friction material. It may be necessary to split the filter to find this material since the filter is enclosed.
