Optional EEC IV Monitor Requires Update Kit

EEC - IV MONITOR BOX - 1989 UPDATE KIT

FORD: 1989 TAURUS, THUNDERBIRD

LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1989 CONTINENTAL, COUGAR, SABLE

LIGHT TRUCK: 1989 BRONCO, ECONOLINE, F-100-350 SERIES

ISSUE: The optional ECC-IV Monitor (# 007-00018) requires an update kit (Rotunda Part # 007-00046) if it is to be used for diagnosing 1989 vehicles. This kit consists of the following items.
^ 1989 Monitor overlays

^ A mailer box to return the monitor for an erasable programmed read only memory (EPROM) update

^ A text update package for the monitor manuals

ACTION: If EEC-IV diagnostic service is required for the subject 1989 vehicles, the EEC-IV monitor box must be updated. Without the EPROM update, the EEC-IV monitor will display such incorrect information as that shown below.

3.8L SFI Passenger Car (1989 Overlay # 32)

^ MAP (Pin 45) will be read as DCV instead of Hz.

^ H/EGO-L (Pin 43) will give an incorrect value.

^ FPM (Pin 50) will give an incorrect value.

5.8L/7.5L EFI E40D Truck (1989 Overlay # 34)

^ MAP (Pin 45) will be read as DCV instead of Hz.

^ IMS (Pin 18) will be read as RPM instead of DCV.

^ TAB (Pin 51), OCIL (Pin 32), EPC (Pin 38) will be read as % instead of DCV.

^ FPM (Pin 8), 4 x 4L (Pin 12), TOT (Pin 42) and SSI (Pin 52) will be read as mSEC instead of DCV.

7.3L E40D Diesel truck (1989 Overlay # 35)

^ BP (Pin 45) will be read as DCV instead of Hz.

^ EPCPWR (Pin 35), OCIL (Pin 32), EPC (Pin 38) will be read as % instead of DCV.

^ 4 x 4 (Pin 12), and SSI (PIN 52) will be read as mSec instead of DCV.
