RESTRAINT SYSTEM - SUPPLEMENTAL PASSENGER AIR BAG - SHOP MANUAL UPDATE

LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1989 CONTINENTAL


ISSUE: The supplemental passenger air bag service procedure as outlined in the 1989 Continental Shop Manual, Section 41-58-9 and 45-61-3 has been revised. The two lower vertical screw and washer assemblies must be replaced with new ones any time the air bag assembly is removed or replaced. The screw threads are coated with an epoxy adhesive making them non-reusable.

ACTION: Install two new screw and washer assemblies using the procedure on pages 7 through 9 of this TSB. This information should be inserted in your 1989 Continental Shop Manual, Section 41-58-9 and 45-61-3 for future reference.
