This article is being republished in its entirety to include 1990 model year vehicles and to revise the duct tape location on the air suspension control module.
ISSUE: Inoperative air suspension may be caused by moisture entry into the control module. The moisture can cause the control module to short out.
ACTION: Perform normal air suspension control diagnostics. If the module requires replacement, install a new air suspension control module with duct tape applied to the edge of the module casing. The duct tape will protect the control module from moisture entry. Refer to the following procedure for service details.
Figure 1:
1. Remove the old suspension control module. Refer to the Continental Shop Manual, Section 14-40-21 for service details.
2. Obtain a roll of 30 wide duct tape.
NOTE: MAKE SURE THE TAPE OVERLAPS ALL EDGES BY 1/4".
3. Wrap the duct tape around the control module as shown in Figure 1.
4. Install the new suspension control module. Refer to the Continental Shop Manual, Section 14-40-21 for service details.
