ISSUE: A rear brake shudder may be felt between 25 and 40 MPH (40-60 km/H) during brake application. This may be caused by the wear pattern of the rear disc brake pads and rotors.
ACTION: Install new disc brake rotors and new disc brake pads. The new brake pads are made from an improved material. Refer to the following procedure for service details.
1. See if the brake shudder exists by lightly applying the parking brake at 30 MPH (48 km/H) on a dry road surface. If a brake shudder is felt go to Step 2.
2. Remove both rear brake calipers from the caliper support.
NOTE: IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO DISCONNECT THE REAR BRAKE HOSES FROM THE CALIPERS.
3. Remove the disc brake pads and anti-rattle clips (if any) from the caliper. Position the calipers aside.
4. Remove both brake rotors.
5. Install two (2) new brake rotors.
6. Install a new set of rear disc brake pads.
NOTE: DO NOT INSTALL THE ANTI-RATTLE CLIPS
7. Repostion and install the calipers.
