Special Field Action 92E30 - Vehicle Emission Control Information Label Replacement on Certain 1987 through 1989-Model Passenger Cars

AFFECTED VEHICLES
Certain 1987 through 1989-model Escort, Lynx, EXP, Tempo, Topaz, Taurus, Sable and Continental passenger cars. Refer to Attachment II, for specific engine sizes and calibration codes of the affected cars.

REASONS FOR ACTION
The Vehicle Emission Control Information labels installed on some of the affected cars may be unreadable. These labels are important to the servicing of the cars, government in-use testing and, in California, to registration renewal.

SERVICE ACTION
Owners of affected cars will be mailed new labels, a cleaning package and instructions on how to remove old labels and attach new labels to their cars. They will be given the option to have dealers install labels.

LABEL ORDERING INSTRUCTIONS - WHEN AN OWNER ASKS YOU FOR A LABEL

Owners should have the label and cleaning package when they return their cars for service. When an owner returns requesting a label, contact your Ford Parts and Service District Office. Provide the part number of the requested label, the VIN of the car, your P & A Code and a return address.
