89Ford20
RECALL NUMBER 89S61
Date: April, 1989
TO: All Lincoln-Mercury Dealers
SUBJECT: Safety Recall 89S61 - Recall of Certain 1989 Continental Vehicles - Rear Seat Belt and Retractor Attachment
AFFECTED Certain 1989 Continentals built from November 28, 1988
VEHICLES through December 1, 1988.
REASONS FOR On some of these vehicles, the left rear seat belt
RECALL retractor may not be properly attached to the vehicle
body. If a collision were to occur, the retractor might pull away from its anchorage and an occupant in the left rear seating position may not be fully restrained by the seat belt assembly. The risk of injury to an occupant in such a situation would be increased.
Dealers are asked to inspect the left rear seat belt retractor anchor bolt and to tighten any loose bolts.
