Wheel Bearing: Adjustments

Fig. 1 Wheel Bearing Adjustment. 1989-91 Crown Victoria & Grand Marquis:

1. With wheel rotating, torque adjusting nut to 17-25 ft. lbs, Fig. 1.
2. Back off adjusting nut 1/2 turn and torque nut to 10-15 inch lbs.
3. Place nut lock on nut so that castellations on lock are aligned with cotter pin hole in spindle and install cotter pin.
4. Check front wheel rotation, if it rotates noisily or rough, clean, inspect or replace wheel bearings as necessary.
