Instrument Panel Ducts




The system of air ducts to the four registers in the instrument panel is illustrated in the illustration.

The center duct seats on top of the plenum and directs the airflow as follows:
^ To the register opening in the center duct which directs air through the two registers located in the center of the vehicle on the instrument cluster.
^ Through the LH duct to the register located on the LH side of the instrument cluster.
^ Through the RH duct to the register located to the right and above the glove compartment.

REMOVAL
1. Remove steering column assembly. See Steering Column.
2. Remove instrument panel assembly. See Instrument Panel.
3. Lower plenum chamber.
4. Remove defroster nozzle.
5. Disconnect the vacuum harness from one location on the RH duct and two locations on the center duct.
6. Remove duct retaining parts, as required:
^ LH duct assembly (Part No. 19A843). Two duct-to-instrument panel screws.
^ Center duct assembly (Part of A/C register connector and duct assembly, Part No. 19C615). One duct-to-instrument panel screw.
^ RH duct assembly (Part No. 19B680). One duct-to-instrument panel screw.

INSTALLATION
1. Assemble duct and place in its installed position.
2. Install retaining parts.
3. Push the vacuum harness locators into the locator holes in the ducts.
4. Raise plenum and secure it in position with two retaining screws.
5. Install instrument panel assembly. See Instrument Panel.
6. Install steering column assembly. See Steering Column.
