Subject: Initial Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) Replacement Decal Index for 1990-Model Year Vehicles

Attached is the initial index for 1990-model year Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) replacement decals. This index will assist you in the selection and ordering of replacement decals when required.

The replacement VECI decal program was first announced in November 1980, and was establislied to accommodate customer and dealership requests for replacement VECI decals. Because these decals provide a readily available source for engine tune-up specifications, Ford Motor Company will provide the decals for each model year beginning with 1980-model year vehicles. Decals are not available for vehicles prior to the 1980-model.

The attached index is for 1990-model year vehicles only. Indexes for 1980 through 1989-model year vehicles were previously distributed. Please contact your Ford Parts and Service Division District Office if you require a copy of any of these indexes.

Where To File This Index

Car and Truck Engine/Emissions Facts Booklet Summary (Basic Form 12096) is published annually to provide engine tune-up specifications. Since the material in that booklet is closely related to the information provided in the attached index, please file the index with the 1990-model year booklet for reference purposes.

How to Order a Replacement VECI Decal (1980-90 Model Year Vehicles)

The following information will assist you in selecting and ordering decals:

Look for the engine identification decal located on the engine rocker-arm cover or on the driver-side door pillar. This decal will have the engine or calibration code printed on it.

Use the attached index for 1990-model year vehicles or an appropriate model year index, find the car line, engine size; and then determine the decal part number.
^ Enter the decal part number on an order postcard. Include your P&A code and the vehicle identification number (VIN) in the spaces provided.

Mail the postcard. Decals will be sent by mail in about 3-6 weeks.

Other Helpful Hints When Ordering Decals

You may determine the correct decal by looking at what remains of the existing decal. In cases where the decal is missing, obtain the calibration code from OASIS and then use the indexes.

Requirements for Ordering Decals

You must provide the vehicle identification number (VIN) for each vehicle requiring a replacement decal. A quantity of order postcards containing blank spaces for the VIN, your dealership P&A code, and the decal part number are included with this index. The postcards also restrict orders to one decal per order. Remember, this program is intended only for ordering replacement Vehicle Emission Control Information decals.

YOUR ARE CAUTIONED TO TAKE ADEQUATE MEASURES TO ASSURE THAT VECI DECALS ARE ORDERED CORRECTLY AND USAGE IS ACCURATELY CONTROLLED TO PRECLUDE POSSIBLE VIOlATION OF FEDERAL OR CALIFORNIA EMISSION REGULATIONS.
