Instrument Cluster / Carrier: Service and Repair

Less Electronic Cluster

1. Disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove instrument cluster finish panel, then disconnect warning lamp module connectors.
4. Remove instrument panel binnacle molding.
5. Remove five mask to back-plate mounting screws. Do not remove three top screws retaining lens to mask.
6. Remove lens and mask assembly.
7. Lift main dial assembly from back-plate. Some effort may be required to pull quick connect terminals from clips.
8. Install quick connect terminals to clips and position main dial assembly on back-plate. Ensure foam seal under indicator lamp baffle is correctly positioned.
9. Install lens and mask assembly, then the five attaching screws.
10. Install instrument panel binnacle molding.
11. Connect warning lamp module connectors, then install instrument cluster finish panel.
12. Rearm airbag as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
13. Connect battery ground cable.

With Electronic Cluster

1. Disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. Remove the four finish panel retaining screws, then rotate top of panel towards steering wheel and remove from vehicle, Fig. 8.
3. Remove the six instrument panel pad retaining screws, then rotate pad toward steering wheel and remove from vehicle.
4. Remove the four instrument cluster to instrument panel retaining screws, then pull cluster away from instrument panel.
5. Disconnect cluster electrical connector and remove cluster.
6. Reverse procedure to install. Rearm airbag as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
