^ NOISE - "GROAN" FROM REAR BRAKES
LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1987-90 MARK VII
ISSUE: A "groaning" type noise from the rear disc brakes during the first few feet of acceleration after a brake stop may be caused by the brake caliper locating pin insulators. It also may occur when making wide turns without applying the brakes.
ACTION: Install a new rear pad service kit and replace both rear parking brake cables. Refer to the appropriate model year Mark VII Shop Manual, Sections 12-25 and 12-70 for service details.
Each new rear pad service kit consists of...
^ Four (4) pad assemblies, inner and outer
^ Two (2) anti-rattle clips.
^ Four (4) caliper locating pin insulators.
