Subject:
Safety Recall 95S14 - Certain 1990 and 1991 Model Year Lincoln Town Cars For Hood Latch Striker Plate Replacement

Affected Vehicles
Certain 1990 and 1991 Model Year Lincoln Town Cars produced from Job # 1, 1990 through March 31, 1991 that were originally sold or are currently registered in the following states and territories: Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Wisconsin, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa and the Northern Mariana Islands.

Reasons For Recall
On some of these cars, the hood latch striker plate and the hood-to-striker plate reinforcement may corrode resulting in the striker plate detaching from the hood. Should this occur, the hood may open unexpectedly while the vehicle is in motion. This could obstruct the driver's view and could cause a loss of vehicle control with the potential for a vehicle crash.

To correct this condition, dealers are to install a new corrosion resistant striker plate, a new hood-to-striker plate reinforcement and nylon coated rivets on each of the affected cars.

If an owner whose vehicle is not listed in OASIS believes his/her vehicle should have been included, or this condition is observed in a vehicle not covered by this action, dealers are to contact their FCSD Regional Office for approval and submit the claim under this recall to obtain reimbursement.
