LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1990-91 GRAND MARQUIS 1991 TOWN CAR
ISSUE: An analog speedometer pointer that sticks at 0 mph (0 kmh) while the odometer and trip odometer continue to operate may be caused by the adhesive properties used when the pointer is manufactured. The speedometer pointer could adhere to the zero stop angled wall of the speedometer assembly. The speedometer pointer may not begin to rise until the car is moving 30 mph (50 kmh). Tapping on the instrument cluster lens or on top of the dash pad may jar the speedometer pointer loose and allow it to function for a short period.
ACTION: If the speedometer pointer is stuck at zero but the odometer and trip odometer operate, rework the speedometer assembly. Refer to the following procedure for service details.
