ISSUE: An intermittent or complete loss of blower motor operation may be caused by a loose electrical connection at the variable blower speed controller (VBSC).

ACTION: Secure the electrical connection at the connector end of the VBSC with a tie strap. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

1. Locate the VBSC which is on the evaporator assembly in the engine compartment.

2. Check to see if the electrical connector at the VBSC is fully seated. If necessary, seat it firmly against the VBSC.

3. Check the blower operation.

Figure 1:

4. If the blower operates properly, install a tie strap (N801493-S) as shown in Figure 1.

5. If the blower continues to operate intermittently or fails to operate, check the electrical connection at the VBSC to be certain that the connector is fully seated.

6. If the condition persists, perform the blower operation diagnostics as outlined in the 1990 Lincoln Town Car Shop Manual, Section 36-75.

7. If required, install a new VBSC. Refer to the 1990 Lincoln Town Car Shop Manual, Page 36-75-27 for service details.
