3. Observe and note any fault codes displayed (flashing code) on the alarm indicator lamp. Fault codes are repeated every ten seconds and are described in the following Fault Code Chart.

ISSUE: An intermittent no crank condition may be caused by the anti-theft module. A new anti-theft module featuring additional diagnostic capabilities is now available for service. It has the ability to diagnose shorts in the door disarm circuit and the trunk lock cylinder circuit. It also can be used as a service replacement part for 1990 vehicles built prior to 5/22/90.

ACTION: If service is required, install a new design level anti-theft module (F1VY-19A366-A). Use the following diagnostic procedure to assist in diagnosing the anti-theft system. This procedure should be completed before continuing the diagnostic procedures provided in Section 44-20 of the applicable Car Shop Manual.

NOTE: A SHORT TO GROUND IN THE DOOR DISARM SWITCH AND/OR TRUNK LOCK CYLINDER CIRCUITS ARE THE TWO MOST COMMON CAUSES OF THE FOLLOWING CONCERNS.

^ Alarm won't arm (shorted door disarm circuit)

^ Alarm triggers after the 30 second timeout (shorted trunk lock circuit).

ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

1. Turn the ignition key from the OFF to the RUN position. Perform Step # 2 within 90 seconds.

2. To activate the diagnostic mode, depress the power door lock switch to UNLOCK five times within a ten second period.
4. Deactivate the diagnostic mode by turning the ignition key to the OFF position.

NOTE: THE MODULE DIAGNOSTIC FEATURE (MODE) WILL TIME OUT AUTOMATICALLY AFTER APPROXIMATELY TWO MINUTES.

5. If necessary, continue to perform diagnostic procedures as described in Section 44-20 of the applicable Car Shop Manual.
