Front Door Trim - Delamination at Demister Vent

TRIM - INTERIOR - FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL DE-LAMINATION AT DEMISTER VENT
LINCOLN-MERCURY:
1990-94 TOWN CAR
This TSB is being republished in its entirety to include the 1993-94 model years.
ISSUE:
Separation of the front door soft trim panel may be experienced around the demister vent, leaving a gap between the vent grille and door trim.
ACTION:
Repair the front door trim panel by gluing it back in place with instant adhesive. Refer to the following procedure for service details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Lower window and open door.
2. Pry demister grille below bottom vent opening with small screwdriver, then slide down to disengage upper hook. Refer to Figures 1 and 2.
3. Remove any loose (foam) debris or sticky glue residue from the area to be glued by scraping or rubbing with steel wool.
4. Apply a bead of instant adhesive for entire length of separation between substrate and soft cover as required. Refer to Figure 3.
5. Position soft trim cover into place and apply pressure for a minimum of 30 seconds, or until set. Soft cover edge should align with substrate edge. Refer to Figure 4.
6. Repeat this procedure for other side of vent opening.
7. Apply a bead of instant adhesive to underside of grille, along the length of both inside corners. Refer to Figure 5.
8. Install grille by inserting top first, then press bottom until it snaps into place. Apply pressure to grille for a minimum of 30 seconds, or until set.
