LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1990 TOWN CAR

ISSUE: A whistle type windnoise may come from the RH or LH outside mirrors. This occurs because of air leaking between the mirror pivot mounting flange and mirror arm. (This should not be confused with a wind turbulence type noise).

ACTION: Seal the area between the mirror pivot mounting flange and the mirror arm with RTV sealer. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

1. Put the front door windows completely down.

Figure 1:

2. Rotate the mirror completely into the car to expose the two (2) mounting screws, Figure 1.

3. Holding the mirror body, remove the two (2) screws.

CAUTION: DO NOT LET THE MIRROR BODY COME IN CONTACT WITH THE DOOR FINISH PANEL.

4. Apply RTV sealer (E8AZ-19562-A) as shown in Figure 1.

5. Reassemble the mirror.
