ISSUE: The tension on the window regulator cable must not be changed. The proper cable tension has been pre-set at the assembly plant and is good for the life of the unit. Improper cable adjustment may result in premature window regulator failure or erratic window operation. This applies to the front and rear regulators on the Town Car and the rear regulator on the Explorer.

ACTION: If service is required on the door glass system, window regulator or window regulator drive assembly (motor), do not alter the tension on the window regulator cable.
