Air Cleaner Housing: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
- Loosen clamp at air tube to throttle body and remove tube end.
- Unfasten clips to remove air cleaner lid.
- Remove air filter element.

INSPECTION
Visually inspect filter element, air cleaner cover and body for signs of dust or dirt leaking through holes in filter media or past the seals. Place a light behind the filter element and check. Even the smallest hole is cause for replacement. Discoloration is not cause for replacement. Also check the element for deformed seals, charred or brittle spots.

INSTALLATION
- Wipe all inside surfaces of the air cleaner body and cover.
- Install air filter element and fasten holddown clips.
- Install air tube to throttle body and tighten clamp to 22-28 in lb (2.5-3.2 Nm).
