Steering: Description and Operation
The EVO Power Steering System controls power assist, which depends upon vehicle speed and steering wheel rotation rate. The Air Suspension/EVO Steering Module provides a large amount of assist at low speeds and also increases assist as the steering wheel rotation rate increases, during an evasive maneuver, for example. A smaller amount of assist is provided at high speeds to allow greater road "feel."
With the Ignition Switch in RUN, voltage is applied to the Steering Sensor and to the Air Suspension/EVO Steering Module.
The EVO Actuator, which is controlled by the Air Suspension/EVO Steering Module, controls a hydraulic valve, which determines the amount of hydraulic assist available to the driver.
