Brake Fluid Pump: Description and Operation
OPERATIONIf the Anti-Lock Brake Control Module senses an open Anti-Lock Brake Pedal Travel Switch during Anti-Lock cycling, it applies a ground signal to the Anti-Lock Pump Motor Relay. The relay applies voltage to the Hydraulic Pump Motor. The motor runs, pumping high pressure brake fluid into the master cylinder. This action causes the brake pedal to be forced up until the Anti-Lock Brake Pedal Travel Switch is closed. The Anti-Lock Brake Control Module then removes the ground signal from the Anti-Lock Pump Motor and the motor stops. While the pump motor is running, a feedback signal is sent from the pump motor speed sensor to the Anti-Lock Brake Control Module.
