Backup Lamp: Description and Operation

OPERATION

With the Ignition Switch in "RUN", voltage is present at the Manual Lever Position (MLP) Switch through Fuse 10. When the transmission is shifted into "REVERSE", current flows through Fuse 10, the Manual Lever Position (MLP) Switch and circuit 140 (BK/PK) to the Backup Lamps. The Backup Lamps illuminate.

When the transmission is shifted into "REVERSE" with the Ignition Switch in "RUN", the battery voltage is also applied to the Electronic Day/Night Mirror and the Remote/Keyless Entry Module. This will disable the Electronic Day/Night Mirror from being dim and enable the Remote Keyless Entry Module to automatically lock all doors (if other conditions are met).
