Trunk / Liftgate: Description and Operation

When the trunk lid is unlatched and the trunk lid opens partway, the Trunk Lid Ajar Switch contacts move to the LID AJAR position and the Lid Position Switch contacts move to LID RELEASED position. The Pull-down Switches are already in the EXTEND position.

Current flows through Fuse 1, the 296 (W/P) wire, the Pull-down Switch contacts, the Pull-down Motor and the Lid Ajar Switch contacts to ground. The Pull-down Motor runs and extends the striker.

When the striker is fully extended, the Pull-down Switch contacts automatically move to the RETRACT position and the Pull-down Motor stops.

Closing the trunk lid moves the Trunk Lid Ajar Switch contacts to the LID CLOSED position.

Current flows through Fuse 1, the 296 (W/P) wire, the Pull-down Switch contacts, the Pull-down Motor, and the Lid Ajar Switch contacts to ground. The Pull-down Motor runs and extends the striker.

When the striker is fully retracted, the Pull-down Switch contacts automatically move to the EXTEND position and the Pull-down Motor stops.

The System is now ready for another extend cycle.
