Fuel Injector: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove fuel filler cap and release the fuel tank pressure.

3. Relieve fuel system pressure, refer to Service and Repair / Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure. Fuel Pressure Release

4. Remove fuel injection supply manifold.

5. Remove fuel injector electrical connectors.

Fuel Injector:

6. Lift injectors out of the manifold while gently rocking from side to side.

Fuel Injector:

7. Inspect the injector "plastic hat" and washer for signs of deterioration, replace as required.

INSTALLATION

1. Replace and lubricate the two injector O-rings on each injector with clean engine oil.

CAUTION: Do not use silicone grease. It will clog the injectors.

2. Install injectors using a light, twisting, pushing motion.

3. Install fuel injection supply manifold assembly.

4. Install fuel injector electrical connectors.

5. Install fuel filler cap.

6. Connect negative battery cable.

7. Turn the ignition switch ON/OFF several times to pressurize the fuel system, then check for leaks.
