This TSB article is being republished in its entirety to clarify the symptom description.
ISSUE:
Firm transmission shifts or harsh engagement concerns may be caused by internal contamination of the Manual Lever Position Sensor (MLP).
ACTION:
Visually inspect the MLP sensor on the vehicle to determine the sensor build date code. The build date code is on the outer cover of the sensor. Refer to Figure 1 for build date code and build date code location. If the MLP sensor build date code is between 2J21 (1992 Sept 21) and 2LO6 (1992 Nov 06), replace the MLP sensor with a new one having a build date code after 2L06 (1992 November 06). Refer to the appropriate 1993 Service Manual, Section 07-01, for service details.
NOTE:
THE BUILD DATE CODE IS STAMPED ON THE OUTER COVER OF THE SENSOR. REFER TO FIGURE 1 FOR BUILD DATE CODE LOCATION.
