^ NOISE - "BUZZ" OR "GROWL" FROM POWER STEERING DURING RIGHT HAND TURNS

ISSUE:
A "buzz" or "growl" noise may be heard from the power steering system during sharp right hand turns. Aggressive driving may shift the fluid in the reservoir following right hand turns; cavitation noise can be the result.

ACTION:
Install a revised power steering reservoir and cap assembly. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

1. Replace power steering reservoir and cap assembly using the improved part (F3AZ-3E764-A). Refer to Service Manual, Section 13-52, for 1991 Town Car and Section 11-02A for 1992/93 Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis, for removal and installation procedures.

2. Refill reservoir with approved power steering fluid (Motorcraft XT-L-QF or equivalent) (Type F).

3. Purge all air from the power steering system. Refer to DEVAC procedure in TSB 93-3-4.

4. Top-off fluid level to between nominal and maximum; confirm that no leaks are present.
