ISSUE:
The center ornament may fall off of some vehicles if it is installed improperly. Improper installation may also cause damage to the ornament.
ACTION:
Refer to the following Service Procedure for proper center wheel ornament installation.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Index the wheel ornament so as not to interfere with the lug nuts. Refer to Figure 1 for Grand Marquis, Crown Victoria and Town Car and Figure 3 for Mark VIII.
2. Use an open hand and tap the ornament onto its seat. Refer to Figure 2 for Grand Marquis, Crown Victoria and Town Car and Figure 4 for Mark VIII.
NOTE:
DO NOT USE A HAMMER OR BLUNT TOOL TO SEAT THE ORNAMENT. THIS COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ORNAMENT. USE ONLY AN OPEN HAND TO SEAT THE ORNAMENT.
NOTE:
MARK VIII ORNAMENTS AND WHEELS HAVE INDEX NOTCHES MOULDED INTO THE ORNAMENT. ENSURE ALL THE INDEX POINTS ARE ALIGNED BEFORE ATTEMPTING INSTALLATION. REFER To FIGURES 3 AND 4. NO OTHER ORNAMENTS HAVE THE INDEX POINTS.
