Neutral Safety Switch: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Place shift lever in NEUTRAL, then remove air cleaner and outlet tube.
3. Disconnect electrical connector from switch by pressing on connector release button while pulling connector straight out.
4. Remove nut retaining manual lever, then remove lever.
5. Remove bolts retaining switch, then remove switch.

INSTALLATION
1. Ensure vehicle shift lever is in NEUTRAL position.
2. Install switch onto shaft then install retaining bolts loosely.
3. Align switch using alignment tool No. T92P-70010-AH, or equivalent, then torque mounting bolts to 7-9 ft lb.
4. Connect harness connector to switch. Ensure connector is attached.
5. Install manual lever, then torque nut to 12-16 ft lb.
6. Install air cleaner and tube, then connect battery ground cable.
