XB100 - Lack of Power (A/C On): Verify WAC Is Able to Cut A/C
- Start engine.
- A/C "ON".
- Perform a brief Wide Open Throttle (WOT) and return to idle.
- The A/C clutch should disengage during the WOT, then a few seconds after returning to idle, the A/C clutch should reengage (a "click" sound should be heard when the clutch reengages).
- Repeat test if necessary to verify results.
NOTE: If the clicking sound cannot be heard, it may be necessary to disconnect the A/C clutch. With a test lamp connected to the Power-to-A/C clutch circuit and the GND circuit at the A/C clutch vehicle harness connector, observe the test lamp while performing the brief WOT The test lamp should go off during the WOT, then come back on a few seconds after returning to idle.
- Does the A/C clutch or test lamp work as indicated?
Yes -- The Wide Open Throttle A/C Cut-Off (WAC) circuit is operating properly. Return to Diagnostic Routines for other possible causes.
