Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview




NOTE: Voltage and resistance readings can be obtained using Rotunda Digital Volt-Ohmmeter 014-00407 or Rotunda Inductive DweIl-Tach-Volt-Ohms Tester 059-00010 or equivalent.




NOTE: keep the driver window rolled down during the Pinpoint Tests to avoid being locked out of the vehicle.

Check that battery is fully charged. (If not, the battery may be causing the concern.)

CAUTION: Do not replace parts unless test results say they should be replaced. Using NGS

Diagnostics for this section require use of the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent. The module controlling the system being diagnosed communicates with the data link connector located beneath the instrument panel.

Connect the Data Link Connector communication cable to the Rotunda New Generation Star Tester 007-00500 or equivalent. Attach the Rotunda New Generation Star Tester 007-00500 or equivalent and communication cable to the DLC beneath the instrument panel. Select the proper vehicle model and year from the Rotunda New Generation Star Tester 007-00500 or equivalent menu. You may then access the testing area of the Rotunda New Generation Star Tester 007-00500 or equivalent menu required to diagnose this vehicle system. Refer to the following Symptom Chart for module selection.
