Tensioner Bleed
1. Position timing chain tensioner in suitable soft-jawed vise.2. Using suitable tool, position ratchet lock mechanism from ratchet stem, then slowly compress tensioner plunger by rotating vise handle.
CAUTION: Tensioner must be compressed slowly or internal seal damage may result.
3. When tensioner plunger bottoms in tensioner bore, continue holding ratchet lock mechanism, then push ratchet mechanism down until flush with tensioner face.

4. While holding ratchet stem flush to tensioner face, release ratchet lock mechanism, then install paper clip or suitable tool to lock tensioner in collapsed position.
5. Do not remove paper clip or suitable tool until timing chain, tensioner, tensioner arm and timing chain guide are installed on engine.
