Fluid - A/T: Service and Repair

FLUID CHANGE
1. Place transaxle range selector in Park and set parking brake.

NOTE: On models equipped with automatic air suspension, place switch in OFF position before raising vehicle.

2. On all models, raise and support vehicle.
3. Remove retainer clip from lower transaxle fluid cooler line and fitting.
4. On models equipped with 5/16 inch cooler lines, use disconnect tool No. T82L-9500-AH or equivalent, to disconnect transaxle cooler line.
5. On models equipped with 3/4 inch cooler lines, pinch plastic retainer tabs of push connect fitting and pull cooler line to separate it from the fitting.
6. Disconnect lower transaxle cooler line from cooler line fitting at transaxle.
7. Attach flexible hose, about 3 ft in length, to end of transaxle cooler line and gently fasten hose with clamp. Place opposite end of flexible hose into suitable container.
8. Plug transaxle cooler line fitting at transaxle.
9. Lower vehicle.
10. Place gear selector in Park and start engine. Run engine at idle for approximately 40-60 seconds until the steady stream of fluid stops flowing from the flexible drain hose, then, turn engine OFF.
11. Fill transaxle with 10 quarts of suitable transaxle fluid, then repeat step 11. This should drain 10 quarts of fluid.
12. Raise and support vehicle, then remove plug from transaxle cooler line fitting.
13. Remove flexible hose from cooler line.
14. Install cooler line into transaxle cooler fitting.
15. Install retainer clip over cooler line and fitting.
16. Lower vehicle.
17. Add 2 quarts of suitable transaxle fluid.
18. Start engine and move gear selector through all ranges, allowing transaxle to engage in each position.
19. Check fluid level.
20. Place air suspension switch in ON position, if equipped.
