New Generation Star (NGS) Tester Driven Diagnostics

Vehicle Set Up
Perform the following vehicle set-up prior to running any New Generation Star tests:
- Ignition switch in RUN
- Vehicle PRNDL position in P (PARK)
- Driver's Seat not occupied
- Parking brake must be applied
- All passenger compartment, engine compartment and luggage compartment doors closed
- All switches in the nominal OFF position

NOTE: Do not touch any handle, control or switch that may produce a module input unless instructed to do so by New Generation Star program.

Test Procedure
1. Hookup New Generation Star Tester and perform vehicle selection.
2. Retrieve continuous DTCs from selected module.
3. Record all continuous DTCs, then clear all DTCs from the selected module using the diagnostic procedure outlined under New Generation Star Tester Operation, Retrieve/Clear Continuous DTCs.
4. Perform Data Link Diagnostics Test to check the Multiplex Communication Network. If the MCN Data Link Diagnostics Test passed and concern(s) still remains, then go to Step 5.

NOTE: The Self-Test program for an individual module may produce observable outputs. For example, the self test for Lighting Control Module will flash certain lamps and the self-test for the Driver's Seat Module will cause the seat to travel through a limited range of motion.

5. Perform On-Demand Self-Test on the selected module.
6. Record all On-Demand Self-Test DTCs and go to MODULE DTC INDEX Table to continue diagnosis. If On-Demand Self-Test passed and concern(s) still remains, then go to Step 7.
7. Use the continuous DTCs recorded in Step 3 and go to the DTC Chart for the module being tested to continue diagnosis. If no continuous DTCs retrieved in Step 3, then concern(s) is not related to Multiplex Communication Network.
